What got me into Massage Therapy?

As a young child at age 9, I had a slip disc surgery on my low back, more specifically my L4 and L5. At age 12 I was diagnosed with Scoliosis. And at age 14 I had a Spinal Fusion Surgery. Spinal Fusion is when 2 Herrington Rods are surgically screwed onto both sides of the spine to straighten the spine. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" The corrective surgery I had was great! It allowed me to live a pain free adult life.

With a deep understanding of what pain feels like, it gives me a 6th sense for for helping my clients. I believe "pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional." We all experience pain in our lives at some point or another- a fall, an accident, or an injury. When the pain is intolerable and it effects our day to day lives we must put our self care first. Maintenance is the key to an optimal healthy body and mind.

What is Scoliosis?

Scoliosis is an S curve of the spine. It is most common in teenage girls and passed down genetically. 70% of Scoliosis cases does not need surgery, bracing is the most common treatment.
